Review of Gabriel's Redemption by Sylvain Reynard

Synopsis:

Professor Gabriel Emerson has left his position at the University of Toronto to embark on a new life with his beloved Julianne. Together, he’s confident that they can face any challenge. And he’s eager to become a father.

But Julianne’s graduate program threatens Gabriel’s plans, as the pressures of being a student become all consuming. When she is given the honor of presenting an academic lecture at Oxford, Gabriel is forced to confront her about the subject of her presentation – research that conflicts with his own. And in Oxford, several individuals from their past appear, including an old nemesis intent on humiliating Julia and exposing one of Gabriel’s darkest secrets.

In an effort to confront his remaining demons, Gabriel begins a quest to discover more about his biological parents, beginning a chain of events that has startling repercussions for himself, Julianne, and his hope of having a family

Review:

I have to admit that this final book in the trilogy completely blew me away.  I thought Sylvain Reynard couldn't surpass Gabriel's Inferno and Gabriel's Rapture.  I was so, so, wrong - and I'm glad I was.

Just about all the questions which lingered from books one and two have been answered (and no I'm not going to reveal them) Let's just say that there are some jaw-dropping surprises, both good and not so good.  Karma certainly suits some of those on the receiving end, (see what I did there?) ;) and also, those deserving of mercy and compassion don't lose out either.

As a lady of a certain age *coughs* I am now a fully paid up member of the Professor Katherine Picton Cheerleading Society.  That lady is awesome, and demolishes more than one person who gets on her wrong side.  Way to go, Katherine!  I found myself thanking goodness more than once that she was on Gabriel's and Julia's team.

And so to our favourite couple.  What can I say that hasn't been said countless times before?  They each have a great deal of adjustment to do over the first months of their marriage, what with Julia's worries over her work and Gabriel's fears that he may, however unwittingly, be tempted back into his old coping mechanisms.  My heart ached for them at the same time as I was yelling at my Kindle "Will you two please talk to one another?"

Professor Gabriel O. Emerson emerges from the almost reconstructed Gabriel - sometimes with hilarious effect.  More than once I laughed out loud.  Also, our much loved Snarky Narrator, armed with new parentheticals is busily bracketing the narrative together.  Love that guy! :)

All this aside, what really comes through is the beautiful symmetry of Gabriel's and Julia's loving passion for one another.  Like two sides of a coin, they match one another perfectly - and the love scenes are hot, sweet and so beautiful - and naughty - desk sex, anyone?  ;)

To conclude, I want to thank Sylvain Reynard for taking us on the journey with Gabriel and Julia. It has been a privilege and such a pleasure.  Also, I have to agree that Argyle is indeed the fabric of seduction.

As a lover of SR's Gabriel Series Novels - and eagerly awaiting the release of Gabriel's Redemption - see just how much, below:

imagine how delighted I was when SR posted on his blog about his new work.  It's set in Florence and obviously features the beautiful Uffizi Gallery. The city is so real to me since I visited in July 2013, so to 'revisit' via SR's book will be wonderful indeed.  Instead of going on, I'll let SR tell you himself:

I thought I'd have fun mocking up a cover:
